A Ministerial Infrastructure Designation (MID) allows for the delivery of essential community infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, water supply and sewage treatment plants.

A MID streamlines regulatory application and approval processes. The Department of State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning (DSDILGP) manages assessment and approval of MID applications.

Unitywater is applying to the state government for a MID for YCW to allow the delivery, maintenance and protection of community recreation, water cycle management and infrastructure.

To ensure Unitywater can continue to ensure public safety we need to carry out site maintenance works. YCW is a community accessible site for bird watchers and trail walkers.

Unitywater needs to undertake tidal gate works to manage the flow of water and removal of nutrients and sediments from YCW.

Tidal gate works to manage the flow of water and removal of nutrients and sediments from the Maroochy River will help reduce around 5.3 tonnes of total nitrogen per year from tidal water.
