Water matters - now and for the future.

Water Matters

Water Matters, also known as the Water Matters Plan, is the short title given to the Sunshine Coast and Noosa Region integrated water management planning project.

The plan will guide how we manage water in a more integrated and sustainable way in the region over the next 30 years, with the aim of contributing to a healthy, liveable and sustainable future across the Sunshine Coast and Noosa Regions.

Unitywater has been engaging with community and stakeholders since 2020 to inform the development of the Water Matters Plan. In that time, we’ve heard what is important from community, environmental and economic perspectives when considering water management options. You can find our report here.

Throughout 2022 and 2023, Unitywater undertook further with community, industry and other stakeholders to gather feedback on suggested management options. We're currently reviewing the feedback received through this engagement, and will deliver the finished plan in 2024.
