FAQs
Where is the land and what is it used for?
Unitywater is the Trustee of the Reserve Land located at 56 Tantula Road East, Alexandra Headland, legally described as Lot 761 on CP890813.
Unitywater use the majority of the Tantula Road site to operate a water reservoir, which supplies water to the surrounding community.
A small section of the land, approximately 31m2, is currently leased to Telstra for access to their telecommunications equipment located on the site. This lease has been in place for several years.
There is another small section of State-owned land immediately adjacent to the site, which is also used for telecommunications purposes.
Why is Unitywater required to submit a Land Management Plan?
The current lease is expiring. Unitywater wish to enter into a new lease agreement with Telstra.
Because the permitted use of the land under the lease agreement (for telecommunications purposes) is inconsistent to the primary purpose of the Reserve (for water supply), Unitywater, as Trustee of the Reserve, is required to seek consent from the Department of Resources, in accordance with the Land Act 1994.
The Land Management Plan explains how Unitywater intends to continue to manage the site according to its dedicated purpose, (for water supply) after the new lease agreement has been entered into.
What will it mean for me and where I live?
Unitywater plan to continue with the existing management arrangements for the site under the new lease agreement. There will be no noticeable changes to fencing, access arrangements or maintenance regimes at the site.
What happens after I provide feedback?
Your feedback will help us shape our final Land Management Plan and will be included as part of our submission to the Department of Resources.
