FAQs
What are air and scour valves, and why are they being replaced?
Air and scour valves help manage pressure and water flow in Unitywater’s network. They release trapped air and allow controlled drainage for maintenance. Some existing valves are old or not performing well, so Unitywater is renewing them to ensure the water network remains safe, reliable, and efficient.
Where are these works happening?
The renewal program covers multiple sites across Unitywater’s network, including areas within:
• Jinker Track Trunk Main Corridor
• Image Flat Trunk Main Corridor
• Landers Shute Trunk Main Corridor
• Bunyaville Conservation Park (Jinker Track)
These sites were identified through condition assessments and maintenance priorities.
How long will the program take?
Works are being delivered progressively across all locations over several months. Each site will generally take a few days to a week, depending on site conditions and complexity. With full completion scheduled for June 2026.
Will my water service be interrupted?
If your property is affected by a planned shutdown, you’ll receive a separate water interruption notice in advance, with the date, time, and duration clearly stated.
Will there be noise or dust?
Some construction noise, dust, or vibration may occur from excavation and vehicle movement. All works will follow environmental and noise management controls, and every effort will be made to minimise disturbance.
Will roads or footpaths be closed?
Traffic management may include lane closures or reduced speed limits, but property access will be maintained. In some areas, footpaths may be temporarily closed with signed detours in place.
How will Unitywater manage works in the Bunyaville Conservation Park?
Works in Bunyaville Conservation Park are being carried out with strict environmental protection measures.
• Activities are confined to existing access tracks.
• Vegetation disturbance will be kept to a minimum.
• All disturbed areas will be reinstated “like for like” after completion
What hours will you be working?
Standard construction hours are 6.30am–6pm, Monday to Friday, with some Saturday work if required. Night works may occasionally occur for planned water interruptions, which will be communicated in advance.
What if there is an emergency or unplanned outage during the works?
In the unlikely event of an unplanned water outage, Unitywater’s operations team will respond immediately. Customers can call Unitywater’s 24-hour fault line on 1300 086 489 for assistance.
How are environmental impacts managed?
Unitywater and their contractors follow approved environmental management plans that include:
• Erosion and sediment control
• Waste management
• Flora and fauna protection
• Site restoration and rehabilitation
Will disturbed areas be repaired?
Yes. All work areas will be restored to existing conditions (“like for like”). This may include re-turfing, reinstating driveways, footpaths, or vegetation after works are complete.
Who can I contact if I have concerns about access or noise?
You can contact the Project Manager on 0418 713 502.
