Redcliffe Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade

Project background

Unitywater is committed to supporting communities across the Moreton Bay region by investing in sustainable and reliable wastewater services.

The Redcliffe Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade will help meet the needs of a growing population by improving the plant’s performance, increasing capacity and protecting the environmental health of the surrounding area.

About the project

The Redcliffe Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Upgrade project will include upgrades to the treatment systems and monitoring equipment, improvements to water supply and chemical handling systems and the construction of an additional facility to support the wastewater treatment process. The project will also include the installation of new ground-mounted solar panels, along with general site improvements such as safety upgrades, improved access, internal roads, stormwater drainage and lighting.

Our delivery partner, Downer, along with their subcontractors, will begin mobilisation from late-April 2026, with construction to follow. The project is expected to take approximately 18 months to complete, subject to weather and site conditions.

Throughout the delivery of the project, Unitywater, with the support of Downer, will keep the local community informed of progress and any upcoming activities.

There will be intermittent noise, dust, odour and vibration during construction activities. We’ll make every effort to minimise disruption during this time.

Project duration: April 2026 - late 2027

Kroll Gardens Dog Park - temporary car park closures

The Redcliffe WWTP Upgrade project includes upgrades to the shared driveway, off Duffield Road, which provides access to the Kroll Gardens Dog Park car park and the WWTP. To ensure these driveway upgrades can occur safely and efficiently, there will be times when access to the driveway and car park is temporarily closed.

  • Kroll Gardens and the dog park remains open throughout the works.
  • From mid-2026, for up to one month (weather permitting), the car park will be closed intermittently as driveway works take place.
  • Alternative parking is available along Duffield Road, shown on the map below.
  • When the car park is open for use, there may be short delays entering and exiting via the shared driveway, traffic controllers will be on site to guide you.
  • Please take care and follow signage.
