Morayfield Wastewater Network Capacity Upgrade Project (Stage 1)

Project background

Unitywater is committed to supporting communities in the Moreton Bay region by investing in sustainable wastewater services.

The Morayfield Wastewater Network Upgrade Project will help meet the needs of more than 26,000 residents who are expected to move to the Morayfield South Central Development Area in coming years.

About the project

The Morayfield Wastewater Network Capacity Upgrade Project (Stage One) includes installing approximately three kilometres of new pipeline, as well as major upgrades to two existing pump stations located on Coach Road West and Buchanan Road. The upgrades will improve the wastewater network’s overall reliability by reducing reactive and operational issues, increasing pipe capacity, and reducing the risk of wastewater overflows.

Detailed design for the project was completed in mid-2024, followed by preliminary works in June 2025. These early works included geotechnical investigations, as well as arborist and flora and fauna assessments.

Our delivery partner, Downer, along with their subcontractors, commenced construction in late January 2026. The project is anticipated to take up to 18 months to complete, with completion expected around mid-2027, subject to weather and site conditions.

Throughout the delivery of the project, Unitywater, with the support of Downer, will keep the local community informed of progress and any upcoming activities.

Unitywater is committed to minimising environmental impacts and reducing the need to clear vegetation where possible. In areas that must be cleared for the upgrade, native revegetation will be delivered as part of the project.

By upgrading the wastewater network, Unitywater will continue to meet the needs of the growing region, improve overall system reliability, and reduce the risk of wastewater overflows.

Grogan Park - Temporary Changes to Dog Park Enclosure

As part of the project construction will take place through a small section of the dog park enclosure in Grogan Park.

For safety, fencing will be installed around the work area and will remain in place for the duration of these works.

Grogan Park - Temporary Trail Closure Notice

Due to construction work near sections of the walking trail in the park, access will be temporarily closed for the duration of our work.

Please use the trail access from Grogan Road.

Works within Grogan Park will not affect access to the playground area.
