A Year of Progress at Waraba

In West Caboolture, Unitywater and Killard Tallai Joint Venture (KTJV) are celebrating one year of working on the landmark Waraba Wastewater Network Project.
Since May 2024, the project team have been working hard on the ground to ensure a seamless extension and upgrade to the existing wastewater infrastructure in the region to allow for a projected additional 70,000 residents that will call the City of Waraba home by 2030.
This project is underpinned by a brand-new wastewater pumping station, as well as 4.5km of new wastewater pipeline.
Although this new pipeline will eventually benefit the City of Waraba development area, Unitywater and KTJV knew from the outset that the bulk of construction impacts would be felt by the existing residents of West Caboolture.
In working to mitigate impacts as much as possible, the team committed to using horizontal directional drilling (HDD) where possible and trenching incrementally as needed. HDD works at Sheepstation Creek and Dobson Creek were established to minimise disturbance to the surrounding environment and existing infrastructure.
With construction expected to reach completion in late 2025, the Waraba Wastewater Network Project will be able to process more than 380 litres of water per second. It will assist to scrub the air clean of any odours before they can be released and use high-technology sensors to detect potential issues or leaks faster than ever, meaning less overall disruption to the surrounding community.
