Buderim Reservoir Renewal

This project is completed.

Helicopter lift rescheduled to 8 May 2024.

Unitywater is upgrading the Buderim Water Reservoir to continue providing a safe and reliable water service to the area. As part of this upgrade, we need to airlift new roof components onto the site. Work commenced on the Reservoir in September 2023 and is nearing completion.

What we are doing

Using a helicopter to airlift roof components from a laydown area on Wises Road to the Buderim Reservoir.

What to expect

The roof components are scheduled to be airlifted from a laydown area on Wises Road onto the reservoir site from 7am to 1pm on Wednesday, 8 May 2024, weather permitting (this was re-scheduled from March, due to unfavourable weather conditions).

For safety reasons, the flight zone will be vacated for the duration of the lift (see below map).

This will include:

  • closing the majority of Eric Joseph Foote War Memorial Park, except for the Botanic Track, which will remain open and accessible from Park Lane.
  • intermittently closing the northern end of Grant Street to motorists and pedestrians during each lift.
  • vacating a small number of houses in the area. Unitywater is working with affected residents.

Traffic management will be in place and we ask that you follow the direction of controllers and signage to ensure the safety of the community and our work teams.

The works will cause some noise and increased traffic in the area, however, every effort will be made to minimise inconvenience to the local community.
